I'd say that grinding was pretty much required in Grandia 3, but I didn't do much (which is probably why I got hit by a boss I couldn't defeat).įor FFX-2 I don't remember grinding that didn't involve me wanting to max out each character's job sphere. It was really inconsistent in this regard, instead of a steadily climbing difficulty, that was tempered by your gaining levels, you'd jump from an area that was really easy to an area that was incredibly difficult. Up to that point there were two or three areas that (once completed) you return to an area that you've already been to and have enemies that are much more difficult than the ones you had just faced (in some cases including the boss just prior to that area). In fact, each area has a level cap, so when you hit a certain level, you only get miniscule amounts of experience. Just going through the normal game and sidequests, you will be fine.

I also purchased the extra dungeon DLC, but I actually don't recommend that. It took me about 80 hours to finish doing all of the sidequests and getting most of the achievements.
